One to One meetings

The One-to-One scheduler opens on 12th February 2019

The One to One Meeting Scheduler will open on 11th february 2019 for those agents who have applied and paid for the Early Access to the One-to-One Meeting Scheduler.

We will remind all delegates of this date and the closing date of the scheduler, nearer the time.

One to One meetings are the key to the building and strengthening of relationships between members. Such meetings put you in a position to learn more about an individual in 20 minutes than months of emails or phone calls ever could.

Personal relationship which translates in the sphere of business as ‘social capital,’ is a key factor which would allow you to expand your company’s scope and prospects.

The power of personal networking propels a significant amount of business deals locally, nationally and internationally and continues to be the main driving force in closing deals.

Preparation for One to One meetings
  1. Business cards (minimum 100)
  2. Company brochures (20-25)
  3. Information regarding the services you offer and where you operate (perhaps in an electronic presentation)
  4. Statistics about your company; e.g. Number of shipments from/to

In addition to the above, each delegate should do his/her homework about the agent he/she is having the meeting with. Think about why you are having the meeting, what do you want to know about them and vice versa.

Following the above steps will ensure that each meeting is profitable for both parties.

Manners and Etiquette

It is important to greet and acknowledge the most senior person in the room first.

Men should avoid touching and prolonged eye contact with Muslim women.

The modesty of one’s personal attire is important in the Middle East. Men and women should wear very non-revealing clothes (covering shoulders, arms and legs, and closed-toe shoes) to avoid offending locals. When visiting religious sites, women must also cover their hair. In some circumstances shoes should be removed, such as at the entrance to religious sites.

Punctuality is expected of Westerners – even if it is not practiced by locals. Attitudes to time are more relaxed than in the West, therefore it is not unusual to be kept waiting, though Westerners will be expected to be on time.
